One great way to ensure your content is on time and live on your site is to plan ahead and do content research. Its important to write about what you’re passionate about and have the relevant knowledge as your readers will 100% see “through you” if you literally write about things you don’t know anything about. Here’s how we make sure our content is always relevant and on time.
Share Your Knowledge
When a company releases their article/blog series they usually write about a topic related to their services or business offerings. For example, when I worked in hospitality industry we had a blog page and we would share various insights into events happening in town for which you may need to stay in the hotel; what the town can offer etc. As virtual assistants we don’t have a specific topic per se therefore we try and associate our articles with online based activities, marketing and services we may offer as part of our packages. Make sure whatever it is you’re writing about you have the knowledge and are confident enough that when someone enquires further you will be able to answer their questions. The article itself will flow better and original content is always ranked higher.
Another great way of sourcing interesting topics is to monitor ongoing news online in your particular field. For example if your blog or site is heavily focused on politics then ongoing media surrounding Brexit will bring you plenty of topics to write about. This applies to other industries also, some more than others however there’s always something you can dig up. Twitter is another great very on time source of news and with their new feature of Following particular Topics you can easily follow whatever it is that interests you.
Facebook Group & Pages
Facebook groups and pages are a great source of ideas for articles. Often we don’t even realize that discussions/comments that take place on those type of forums are a great source of ideas for articles. People comment on various things you post – be that photos or links to your recent articles – which in turn may give you ideas for new topics. Its s great source and its totally free and if you think about it is almost like others are doing your research for you, you just need to keep your eyes open as there might be an opportunity looking right at you.
Part of the services we offer is content creation for various clients of ours. While all the other mentioned techniques are foolproof sometimes we need to gather inspiration from other “like minded” sites. Now, be very careful – we do not mean go and copy what other sites are writing about, as that would be plagiarism and possible theft of property which would also result in ranking lower in Google [Google reads text and if its in anyway similar to already existing content out there it will rank your site much lower in search results which in turn lowers your visibility]. There are hundreds of websites which create content daily; its a great way to get some inspiration of possible topics – reading articles available online will give you glimpse of whats already out there and also will ensure you’re not releasing content that’s already been written about. One of the best blog contents out there in our opinion is written by Hootsuite. Their content is second to none, always fresh and very informative.
As Christmas time is fast approaching and we are trying to finish our projects on time & switch off a little for the time that’s in it and spend sometime with our family there will be no articles released for the next two Mondays; next article will be live on Monday January the 6th 2020. With that in mind, we would like to Thank You for your support in 2019 and wish you all a very Happy Christmas and Prosperous 2020. We will “see you” in the New Year.
Until Next Year,
Joanna & Warren
